Fabrics are carefully sourced from across the U.K, and two collections per year are lovingly hand-made in London by forward-thinking designers committed to a fresh approach to fashion.

Spring/Summer '09: 'Hollywood Glamour, Fairground Relic'

amoosi's Spring/Summer '09 collection aims to inject grown-up glamour with a twist of the whimsical into the wardrobe of the busy modern working girl. Elegant jackets, playful dresses, bold leather totes, and sassy clutches suit the self-assured girl who demands her wardrobe be as stylish as it is ethical.

amoosi's gorgeous accessories are especially covetable: in an age of mass-production, they represent a rare opportunity to own a unique fashion piece. Whether a well structured tote, cute clutch, sassy purse or oversized holdall, each new piece is individually crafted from vintage or reclaimed fabrics and buttery-soft reclaimed leather, which is sourced from vintage jackets and local artisans off-cuts. An artful mix of colour, material and texture is incorporated into each design, and the detailing of the original leather jackets, including pleats, studs and buttons, is often retained to add a quirky touch.

Reclaimed and vintage fabrics hint at the elegance of bygone eras, and our modern collections draw on this theme to encapsulate timeless beauty, radiance, and more than a little dose of cheekiness. Our flirty yet structural dresses, soft tailored jackets, and other complimentary pieces are designed with a new modern classicism that will see year after year of wear.

Passion, time and effort go into creating each amoosi piece. Firstly, high quality, desirable fabrics need to be rescued. Each season, fabrics are sourced to reflect current styles and colour palettes, and designs evolve ever so slightly, be it a tweak to the sleeve or a ruffle to the hem, in order to ensure your timeless piece has an on-trend edge.

Sustainable style

Originally, the co-founders of amoosi - Jessica Sherlock and Nina Flowers explored the possibility of offering re-worked vintage pieces. In seeking feedback from the women around them they discovered that, although an appealing concept, what professional women most craved was the sophistication of bygone eras such as the 1940s, but with a modern edge. That edge was perceived as more than a modern update to classic, iconic vintage styles. Self-assured, self-aware women in the 21st century were also increasingly open to the idea of a fashion label that was ethical and sustainable, as well as beautiful and long-wearing. With these ideas in mind, Nina and Jess set out on their journey to create a fashion label built on ethical, well-tailored, gorgeous clothing and accessories.

The amoosi label has since become more than a beautiful, ethical fashion brand: the company is committed to paving the way forward for more young designers to add an injection of style into sustainable design. Jess and Nina currently run a programme called 'Skills for Sustainability' which takes a live design brief to colleges throughout the UK. The winner of the brief is invited to design a piece for the following amoosi collection.
